1st Homestead Christmas

Our first Covid/Homestead Christmas (say that 5 times fast) was wonderful. We had snow on the ground, a chill in the air and we were all healthy. Christmas Eve morning we spent watching movies while waiting for Dad to get off work. We then headed up to Grandma’s house where we played games, opened presents and enjoyed snacks. We wore our pajamas and had a “Ugly Mask” contest. Since we are around each other daily, we celebrated as normal. It was nice. When the night became late, we headed back to check with Alexa on where Santa was. We had some time to spare so quickly Abby and Kacen wrote out a letter to Santa and set out some goodies. We left Buddy the elf with the letter so he could return back to the North Pole with Santa. Soon everyone was settled in for bed.

A few short hours later, the kids were awake! The stockings were filled and the tree was surrounded with presents. There was even a note with a present that was left in the machine shed- a new pool! The kids were thrilled! My parents joined us late morning for a chicken noodle soup dinner. We followed that up with naps and movies.

I felt somewhat relieved after Christmas was over. I loved the alternate celebrations and activities that we did, but missing my family was so hard. I did enjoy being able to focus on what truly matters this holiday season- the birth of Jesus. The kids were more in tune with it this year and I believe we were all more thankful this holiday season.
